Notice to Players
123rd WPGA Amateur Championship
Hannastown Golf Club  Greensburg , PA 

Monday and Tuesday, July 10 & 11, 2023

 

 

Format: 54 holes of stroke play with a field of 78 players. After 36 holes there will be a cut to the low thirty-two (32) scores & ties. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and any Local Rules and Conditions distributed prior to play. In the event of a tie for first place, a hole-by-hole playoff will take place on holes determined by the committee, as soon as practical.

 

Championship Schedule:

Monday, July 10 – Round 1 and Round 2. Round 1 starting times begin at 8:00 AM from the # 1 and # 10 tees. (36-Holes of Stroke Play, cut to low 32 & ties following completion of Round 2).

Tuesday, July 11 – Round Three, starting times begin at 8:00 AM (18-Holes of Stroke Play for the low 32 & ties after 36 holes).

 

Tee Markers: Play is from the WPGA WHITE tee markers. The course will play at a par 70, roughly 6,700 yards depending on conditions. Yardages may vary from round to round.

 

Practice: Practice rounds can be scheduled by contacting the golf shop at 724-836-8643. The PGA Golf Professional is Craig Mankins. Practice rounds are available at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player and will cost $ 60.00. No practice round starting times will be available after 2:00 pm on Sunday July 9th.  The practice range will open one hour and 15 minutes prior to the first tee time each morning of the competition.  The practice range is a 7 minute golf cart ride from the clubhouse and starting tees.  Please be aware of your time allocation in this regard.

 

Transportation/Caddies: Walking is required for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties. Push carts are permitted for the competition, so long as they are not motorized or battery powered.


Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Greensburg, PA area and on Route 22 west of the turn off to Hannastown Golf Club. 


Food & Beverage:  Water will be provided on course during play. Lunch will be provided for players between Rounds 1 & 2 on Monday, July 10.

 

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty minutes. A four-point checkpoint system will be in place for the competition. Please review the WPGA Pace of Play Policy.

 

 

Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

 

Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION. 

 

Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability. Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense. Directions to the club can be found on the Hannastown Golf Club website.
