Notice to Players

92nd WPGA Senior Amateur Championship

September 19 & 20, 2023 at Chartiers Country Club, Pittsburgh, PA

 

The field consists of 41 players in the Senior Amateur Championship and 33 players in the Super-Senior Amateur Championship.   Additional information will be distributed on the starting tee. 

 

Championship Schedule:

Tuesday, September 19 – Round 1. Round 1 starting times begin at 7:30 AM on Hole #1. 

Senior Division from 7:30 am til 9:40 am.   Super-Seniors from 10:00 am til 11:40 am.

Following the completion of Round 1, players will be repaired for Round 2 based on Round 1 results.

 

Wednesday, September 20 – Round 2. Round 2 starting times begin at 7:30 AM on Hole #1. 

The Super-Senior Division will have the early set of times followed by the Senior Division.

 

Format: 36 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for first place in either division, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

 

Tee Markers: Play for the Senior Amateur will be from the WPGA  WHITE tee markers, par 70 (Approximately 6,300 Yards).  Play for Super-Senior Amateur will be from the WPGA  BLUE tee markers (Approximately 5,950 Yards).

 

Practice: Practice rounds can be scheduled by contacting the golf shop at 412-921-5360. The PGA Golf Professional is Joe Klinchock. Practice rounds are available at the discretion of the Golf Shop and are available in the afternoons on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player and will cost $ 75.00.  The practice range will open one hour prior to the first tee time each morning of the competition.

 

Transportation/Caddies: Automotive transportation is permitted for the championship and cart fees are included in the entry fee. Caddies are permitted.

 

Food: The WPGA provides lunch for players only.  All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

 

Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Robinson Township area near Settlers Ridge. 

 

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty minutes (4:20). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

 

Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation all players should return to the clubhouse. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

 

Spectator Info: Spectator Carts are not permitted for the Championship.
